Does Romney’s Record Look Presidential?

First and foremost President Obama must go! With that being said are we so caught up in that ideology that we can’t see the forest for the trees? As Conservative Republicans are we content on a Presidential Candidate that may or may not be any better than what we now have? There are many troubling questions that need to be answered in this debate.

As a Republican of over 35 years plus I am appalled at what direction my Republican Party has taken. It has moved so far to the left from it’s original intent that I believe that the Party itself is in danger of going by the way of the very Party it replaced the “Wigg” Party. Most Whig party leaders thereupon quit politics (as Lincoln did temporarily) or changed parties. The northern voter base mostly joined the new Republican Party.

With all the recent “shenanigans” being played out at the national, state, and county levels by the elitist power brokers of the Republican Party my assessment has real and absolute merit. Changing the rules as to shut out the Conservatives, Delegates, Grassroots, and “Tea Party” Republican voices are a dangerous ploy as to retain power and control among the Party leaders. Isn’t it the delegates that are supposed to set the direction of the Republican Party?

While one should not judge or compare a Son to a Father or vice versa there is something to be said about values, principles, and ideology from one’s upbringing. As a Father I tried to instill traits into my children but can only hope that after they became adults they would adhere to those principles and values. A couple of quotes come to mind here, “Like Father like Son” and the nut doesn’t fall to far from the tree. So let’s take a look at Mitt Romney’s father former Michigan Governor George Romney.

George Romney was directly responsible for initiating Michigan’s State Income Tax and many other Tax Increases upon Michigan’s citizens and Businesses. Prior to former Governor George Romney’s initiative Michigan was like several current states that have no state income tax. George Romney slammed conservative Barry Goldwater and walked out of the 1968 Republican National Convention. Does this trait resemble Mitt Romney trying to get Gary Johnson off the Iowa ballot? Does this trait resemble the “shenanigans” played out at the Tampa Republican convention?

Did Mitt Romney threaten Dr. Ron Paul with a “media firestorm” that would destroy him and cripple the liberty movement just before the Michigan Primary? This revelation is coming out at a time when a national television audience has seen the Romney establishment GOP applying stonewalling and intimidation tactics against Paul delegates at the National Convention. These are all troubling unanswered questions for those who would cast their vote in November.

Getting back to George Romney, Romney worked to overhaul Michigan’s state financial and revenue structure, culminating in Michigan’s first state income tax, and greatly expanded the size and scope of state government as a way to cut the deficit and balance the budget. Is this what’s in store with a Mitt Romney Presidency?

The bottom line is that this government and it’s economy is a house of cards that is coming down and do we want a Republican any Republican to be holding the office of President so as to get the blame? If your answer is yes then be prepared for years to come of Democrats controlling government because just as they blamed George W. Bush for our countries woes the Republican holding office at the time of the collapse will surely get the blame.

Governor Will Appoint Emergency Manager for Allen Park

An emergency manager will be appointed to oversee the cash-strapped city’s finances within 10 days. AP residents hold onto your wallets a tax hike is a coming! You can thank a so-called Republican namely Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville of Monroe for this! He is the one who felt compelled to introduce legislation for, and push for former Governor Granholm’s movie studio and producer subsidies that is costing Michigan citizens dearly.

He is also directly responsible for the “protect our jobs” ballot initiative that the Michigan Supreme Court ruled in favor of which would give “Union Bosses” more power than our elected officials in Lansing! By continuing to block right-to-work legislation in the Republican controlled Senate it gave time for the union’s to come up with this ballot imitative. He has a personal stake in these issues for he has a Daughter who works for the Hollywood Fat Cat’s and the Union’s contribute heavily to his campaign coffers! His buddies at the failed Raleigh Film Studios in Pontiac have left the taxpayers of Michigan on the hook for their missed bond payments.

Michigan’s High Court Allows Pro-Union Measure on November Ballot

“Right now, it’s with the voters,” They can vote for it and give Michigan to the “special interests” or against and leave the power where it should be, with the state’s elected representatives. The initiative “protect our jobs” would give “union bosses” more power than legislators and elected officials.

Critics have argued the measure would discourage businesses from bringing jobs to the state and encourage some to leave. No doubt it wouldn’t be far. Earlier this year, Indiana adopted a right-to-work law and Wisconsin voters chose to retain Republican Governor Scott Walker in a special election after opponents had pressed to recall him over his successful efforts to press legislation curbing the powers of some public sector unions in that state.

The Michigan ballot measure, if approved by the voters, would make it “legislatively impossible” for Michigan to become a right-to-work state without another constitutional amendment. So who do have to thank for this boondoggle? Look no farther than Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville who has continued to block right-to work legislation from being introduced and has went so far as threatening his fellow caucus members if they tried to introduce it! Can you say the “unions best friend” in Lansing!

Richardville’s public statements following the Scott Walker re-call victory in Wisconsin: Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville said he doesn’t look to Wisconsin as a model for Michigan and doesn’t really care what happened there. He went on to say “The Wisconsin people and Legislature does things their way, and we do ours our way.” We can clearly see after this decision how this will all work out!

                                    Appointee “Resigns” Over Sex Scandal

Suzanne Barr, chief of staff to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement director is accused of sexually inappropriate behavior. ICE is a division of Homeland Security. What is it with those associated with Homeland Security that seems to have sexual issues? Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville of the Michigan Senate had a similar inappropriate sexual misconduct (sexually unfaithful) issue that has caused divorce proceedings from his wife of some 30 plus years. Richardville sat on Michigan’s Homeland Security Committee before being decommissioned in the 2011-2012 session, the committee was spun-off into two different committees. Unlike Richardville at least Suzanne Barr did the right thing and resigned!

Republicans Who Resigned or Should Have Over Sex Scandals

Republican Senate Majority Leader steps down after GOP senate members confronted this leader about allegations of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a staffer. While all this was going on Michigan’s Senate held a special caucus meeting while in session at taxpayer expense to give it’s Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville a standing ovation of support for doing the same thing!

Wake up people if an elected official is willing to commit moral infidelity against their wife of 30 plus years they would have no qualms about screwing you the taxpayer! What a private citizen does on their own time is their business but our elected leaders should be, and must be held to a different and higher standard of morals, ethics, and principles as a representative of we the citizens!

Grim Jobs Market Numbers Released

Jobs growth slowed sharply in August, setting the stage for the Federal Reserve to pump additional money into the sluggish economy. While the unemployment rate did drop to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July, which was only because many Americans gave up the hunt for work cause there isn’t any jobs. The weakness was virtually across the board, with average hourly earnings slipping and manufacturing — the star of the recovery from the 2007-09 recession — shedding jobs for the first time in nearly a year. Michigan’s unemployment rate has soared to 10.3%.

NOTE: As previously mentioned in a past “Bain Report” that changes to the weekly publication of this report were forthcoming and the author has decided to make the change from weekly to periodically. There are several reasons for this change.

Opinion by R Al Bain

The Primary elections have come and gone along with the county conventions and with it the shenanigans along with them. Here in Monroe County problems with the voting results such as computer glitches, cross-over ballots that were thrown out, and an overflow of write-in ballots were reasons giving for the delays.

First off computers do not make mistakes only the individuals feeding them the data. Second off why in the world would a candidate’s name being written in be any different than one where the candidates name on the ballot is colored in? But the saddest one is the cross-over ballots that were thrown out and not counted because the citizenry (voters) were told they had to only vote for either a Democrat or a Republican and not who was the best person for the position.

Many friends and fellow citizens in my community was appalled at this especially since the choice for county sheriff was an important vote for them and the choice for sheriff forced them to vote on the Democrat side of the ballot. In my township my own neighbor was especially upset because he wanted to vote for a Township Supervisor and County Commissioner who were Republicans and he wanted to vote for a candidate for sheriff that was a Democrat. This is all a disservice to the voters that only benefits the two major parties all at the cost to the taxpayers!

The Primary’s should be eliminated or at the very least be changed as to allow voters to vote for the candidate they feel best represents their views and not be forced to vote either Democrat or Republican. The cost of these Primary’s if not eliminate should fall on the two major Party’s and not on the taxpayers! What you say?

Hoekstra Says Senators should be appointed, “Not Elected”

I guess Hoekstra doesn’t think too much of our Constitution, but then again what politician does! Before 1913, U.S. senators were appointed by legislatures, but the amendment to the constitution was passed to switch to a popular vote in an effort to avoid the possibility of corruption arising in a legislative appointment. We have all seen the corruption that benefits friends and family, and the politically connected an example would be can you say “Mortgage-Gate” a mortgage bill for one just to mention one such favor? Bad idea!

GOP County Conventions Rigged Across the State

The Republican County Conventions have come and gone around Michigan with stories coming in about the same old shenanigans being played out across the state. Was a memo sent out by the power broker elitist of the Michigan Republican Party for fear of Conservatives and the “Tea Party faithful getting elected to the convention as voting delegates? It would appear so! After what happened at the recent Detroit Convention I’m sure a plan was put in place as to preserve the status quo of those within perceived power and control.

GOP District Committeeman From Monroe Breaks GOP State Rules

The 15th District State Committeeman Mike Humphries from Monroe (LaSalle) has broken a Michigan Republican Party rule by supporting a challenger to a sitting Conservative Republican incumbent. In 2010 I personally was omitted from the state GOP web site as a candidate and when I inquired with the state party as to why I was told that it was their rule to “support the incumbent” and until that rule was changed any Republican challenging a Republican incumbent would be left off their site.

So for a state committeeman to break from state party rules what does that say about his integrity and character? Should this person be representing Republicans? You make the call. For a state committeeman to break the party rules like this is not in keeping with the principles, traditions, and values of the Republican Party. But this is nothing new here within the Monroe County Republican Party led by it’s highest ranking member progressive liberal “RINO” Senator Randy Richardville and his mommy Klenda Kennon first vice chair who thinks “planned parenthood” is a wonderful organization!

Michigan Jobless Rate Soars to 10.3%

Clashing survey results create confusion about reason numbers are high as January! For some reason we won’t know for six months. The plain fact for now is that the state jobless rate is up for the third straight month and is back to the same level as it was after New Year’s Day. As so to add confusion to this the U.S. BLS measures six types of unemployment rates, U1 through U6. I would argue that Michigan’s true unemployment rate is somewhere around 20 to 25%!

U1: Percentage of labor force unemployed 15 weeks or longer.

U2: Percentage of labor force who lost jobs or completed temporary work.

U3: Official unemployment rate per the ILO definition occurs when people are without jobs and they have actively looked for work within the past four weeks.[1]

U4: U3 + “discouraged workers”, or those who have stopped looking for work because current economic conditions make them believe that no work is available for them.

U5: U4 + other “marginally attached workers”, or “loosely attached workers”, or those who “would like” and are able to work, but have not looked for work recently.

U6: U5 + Part time workers who want to work full time, but cannot due to economic reasons (underemployment).
