Richardville, Bolger, Embarrass Legislature Hurt’s Republican Party

It’s not common, but every now and then a member of the Michigan Legislature switches parties. It’s a big deal for a few days, then everybody gets used to it and moves on. That’s what could have happened with Rep. Roy Schmidt’s desire to leave the Democratic Party and join the House Republican majority, had it not been for a series of incredibly clumsy machinations that have made the Grand Rapids lawmaker and House Speaker Jase Bolger look like the kind of scheming, conniving politicians voters despise.

As a Republican of over 35 years this revelation is very troubling. The lack of ethics, integrity, and moral values of our Republican leadership in both the House and Senate is unconscionable! It would appear that those we elect only look out for themselves, the Party click, and their perceived position of power and not the best interest of the citizenry.

The shenanigan’s that has been exposed in the last few years proves this out. Dele-Gate,  Notary-Gate, and Mortgage-Gate just to mention a few along with the “moral infidelity” of Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville that has caused the divorce of his wife of over 30 plus years is not in keeping with the principles, traditions, and values that the Republican Party was founded upon.

Senator Richardville has used his “political machine” here in Monroe County to target a Conservative Commissioner ( Mary O’Neill District 7 ) who has looked out for the best interest of the citizens and not the Party, and Political Clicks by voting against tax increases, non-essential spending, and pay raises for friends and family who are on the taxpayer payroll.

Senator Richardville’s mother Glenda Kennon who has been first vice chair of the Monroe County Republican Party since he was first elected as a State Representative back in 1999 and her Republican Woman’s Club girlfriend Patty Braden have recruited a “yes man” to run against Mrs. O’Neill in the upcoming Republican Primary election. Are these the type of Republicans we want within our Party? I for one think not.

“Complaint Lodged Against Monroe County Republican Party”

To: Saul Anuzis 9/26/08 – Chairman Michigan Republican Party

In accordance with the duties of my position as the chairman of the Monroe County Republican Party and my Oath of Office, I am notifying you of allegations / complaints that I have received concerning members of our Executive Committee that could possibly be a violation of law.

1). An officer of the MCRP executive committee contacted *** ***** a resident of Monroe County in an effort to “recruit” him as a possible republican delegate. It was stated to me that this officer left a delegate affidavit form with Mr. ***** to complete. She explained to him that she would pick up the form at a later date. This officer did come back at a later date to pick up the completed affidavit; the affidavit was not notarized at that time. This officer told ***** that she would take care of the notarization of the legal document. Upon investigating this complaint I discovered that the document had been notarized at a later time / date without the knowledge of Mr. ***** and not in his presence as required by law.

The notarization of the form in question had been completed by another officer of the MCRP executive committee, Mrs. Glenda Kennon. I spoke with Mr. ***** and I believe this allegation to have merit. The document was not notarized in the presence of Mr. ***** which may be a violation of Michigan Law. I also believe that the notarizations of delegate affidavits while not in the presence of the signers have taken place on a large scale. I have spoke with other individuals that are unwilling to come forward because of the relationship of Mrs. Kennon to State Senator Richardville.

2). ****** ****** a resident of Monroe County had filled out a delegate affidavit form; this was witnessed by several individuals at our last “Lincoln / Reagan” day fund raising dinner. The form was properly completed, notarized and signed by the applicant at the dinner. The form was then given to Mrs. Glenda Kennon (chairman of the delegate committee) to be taken to the Monroe County clerks office for registration. The form was never registered with the clerk’s office and Mrs. ****** name was not placed on the ballot denying her attempt to become an elected official. Whether this was a malicious attempt to deny Mrs. ****** of her basic right to become an elected official is not for me to decide. That is why I am passing this information to you.

I believe that I have fulfilled my legal and ethical obligations to report possible wrongdoing within this political organization. I do not hold judgment on these individuals. I have investigated these matters and I am reporting what I have learned to the appropriate authorities. If the need arises Mr. ***** and Mrs. ***** are willing to come forward to validate these claims. I am thereby washing my hands of this issue.

Sincerely, Jeff Andring Chairman Monroe County Republican Party

Snyder Creates Bigger Government with Michigan Autism Council

This is exactly what we the citizens of Michigan don’t need more bigger government! We should be cutting the size and scope of government not making it bigger at taxpayer expense. The governor’s office issued an order creating the council as a step to implement Michigan’s Autism Spectrum Disorders State Plan. Snyder and Lt. Gov. Brian Calley pushed for passage of a “mandate” for insurance coverage for autism treatment for children. This “mandate” will be passed on to every rate payer in Michigan so it’s essentially a tax increase!

Senate Bill 0981 (2012) and now Public Act 101 of 2012 (Effective: 4/18/2012)  was sponsored by Senator Randy Richardville as the primary sponsor. Interestingly enough Richardville’s uncle Senator Roger Kahn of the famed SEIU dues skimming scheme was a co-sponsor along with Richardville’s Democratic buddy Senator Tupac Hunter who slid in the last minute substitute Bill for the “new government bridge” that was defeated in committee. The autism legislation was championed by former Democrat Representative Kathy Angerer of Monroe who now works as a lobbyist for AT&T.

Rick Snyder “Vetoes” Voter ID Bills – Eric Holder Agrees

The governor said that while he “appreciates the issue of ensuring voters are eligible and U.S. citizens,” the measures could create “voter confusion among absentee voters.” What confusion would that be Mr. Snyder? Either you are a eligible and U.S. citizens or you’re not, seems simple enough to me! Is there more to this veto than meets the eye? Democrat Attorney General Eric Holder agrees with Governor Snyder on this one! Is it me or is something bad wrong here when a supposedly Republican Governor veto’s a common sense piece of legislation and the Democrat Attorney General agrees with him?

Michigan Obama HeathCare Exchange and a Tale of Two Quotes

Can anybody tell me what’s the difference between these two quotes? John Dingell has pushed hard for Nationalized Health Care for years such as ObamaCare and Senator Randy Richardville voted in favor of a Michigan Obama Heath Care Exchange!

http://michiganvotes.org/RollCall.aspx?ID=592380

John Dingell’s quote in regard to those that say he’s been in office to long – “This is John Dingell,” the Dearborn Democrat said. “I do things my own way and I’ve been doing them for years and it always works.”

Randy Richardville’s quote in regard to the Scott Walker “re-call” victory in Wisconsin – “Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville said he doesn’t look to Wisconsin as a model for Michigan and doesn’t really care what happened there. He went on to say “The Wisconsin people and Legislature does things their way, and we do ours our way.”

Are Your Tax Dollars Supporting Drug Attics Through Subsidies?

The taxpayers of Michigan are subsidizing Michigan International Speedway to the tune of Millions of taxpayer dollars (18.1 million to date) while drivers are failing drug tests. This is so wrong on so many levels!

http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/04/12/pure-michigan-roush-fenway-racing-mis-team-up-for-mustang-sweepstakes/

If this isn’t bad enough the taxpayers through the “Pure Michigan” advertising campaign subsidies is now sponsoring a “NASCAR” racing team as well. The Subsidies for New Ballparks, NASCAR, New Government Bridges, and list goes on and on. All this while our roads continue to deteriorate for lack of funds and they have the gull to suggest we need a new road tax!

More US Homes Facing Foreclosure in June

Banks are increasingly placing homes with unpaid mortgages on a countdown that could deliver a swell of new foreclosed properties onto the market by early next year, potentially weighing further on home values. June provided the latest evidence of this trend, as the number of U.S. homes entering the foreclosure process for the first time increased on an annual basis for the second month in a row, foreclosure listing firm RealtyTrac Inc. said Thursday.

“Bain Report” Republican Establishment Attacks “Conservative” Candidates

Opinion by R Al Bain

What the Republican establishment is trying to do to Kerry Bentivolio for US Congress with their write-in candidate and now special election to fill the seat left vacant by Thaddeus Mccotter is unconscionable that will now cost the taxpayers dearly for a lousy couple of months. The Republican Party has lost several long standing political figures not just in Michigan but around the country as well and it appears they are stopping at nothing to retain power and control all the while losing membership at an alarming rate.

It all goes back to the leadership or the lack thereof along with adhering to the founding principles of the Republican Party that has been ignored by the current crop of so-called Republicans that only care about re-election and personal gain. Here in Monroe County we have a Conservative Republican Commissioner in Mary O’Neill that has been targeted by the Richardville machine. For the past two years she has voted on the side of the taxpayers’ interest and not the friends and family giveaway’s that have become the norm in the political arena! In these troubling economic times she has voted “NO” against higher taxes on the citizenry, pay increases for those who are supposed to serve the citizens, and a host of non essential spending.

A Monroe County Republican Party insider along with a Democrat has confirmed that Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville and his minions have orchestrated a scheme to oust this Conservative Republican. The unnamed long time Monroe County Democrat who is a member of one of the local boat clubs here in Monroe confirmed this to a fellow member who just happens to be a Republican. This Democrat was approached by the good Senators’ mother who is also the first vice chair of the MCRP Glenda Kennon along with her Republican Woman’s club friend Patty Braden to see if they would run against Mrs.O’Neill. When this Democrat wasn’t interested they found a fellow liberal Republican to run against her!

This is very alarming what is being perpetrated by those within perceived power of the Republican Party establishment that they would go to any and all lengths to abuse and retain this right given to them by the voting Republican citizens. What the Republican establishment is trying to do with Mary O’Neill and Kerry Bentivolio is just two examples of a Political Party gone wild and has lost sight of its intent of representation.

Senate Majority Leader Richardville the Saving Grace for Union’s in Lansing

It’s not a stretch to say that having Senate Majority Leader Richardville in that position is the one, unlikely saving grace that could prevent some or all of the anti-union bills from reaching the desk of Gov. Rick Snyder. As majority leader, Richardville is given wide discretion by his party to decide what bills go to Senate committees, if and when they come out of committee, and if and when they are placed on the Senate floor for a vote.

Richardville, from Monroe, was invited to speak to the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council Legislative Conference on March 2. Building trades leadership had heard signals in media reports that Richardville wasn’t a kindred spirit with many of the anti-union proposals coming out of the Republican caucus in Lansing, and he (very briefly) affirmed as much during his speech.

While he has recently signaled support for the unions side in matters concerning prevailing wage repeal, and implementation right-to-work zones, Richardville has offered no specific pledges to the building trades concerning what he will do legislatively. In fact, in the Senate, the sheer volume of anti-union bills may mean that he will have to compromise with members of his caucus to allow some bills to go up for a vote, while he and other moderate Republicans quell others.

Hoekstra Pay’s “Convicted Felon” to get on August Primary Ballot

Is this the type of representation the citizens of Michigan expect and deserve? I think not! Hoekstra’s petitions show Keith Moore of Grand Rapids was a circulator in his petition gathering. A June 7 article by the Washington Examiner about a Maryland police union using felons to gather signatures cited Moore as one of the circulators hired by California’s PCI Consultants to collect signatures for a police ballot measure to protect collective bargaining.

Hoekstra, the former congressman from Holland, previously told The News he didn’t pay anyone to gather the more than 15,000 signatures of registered voters needed to qualify for the ballot. “We didn’t pay anybody to collect signatures,” Hoekstra said this spring after turning in 22,000 signatures. “That was a purely volunteer effort.” The establishment types will go to any and all lengths to feed at the public trough. Dishonesty, Deceit, and Deception is the name of the game for these self serving candidates just to get elected.

Michigan Republican U.S. Representative Thaddeus McCotter Abruptly Resigns Leaves Congress

One down and many more to go! The Michigan Republican Party with it’s “failed” leadership is watching as the Party implodes. The Michigan GOP is bleeding membership at an alarming rate because of all the “RINO’S” that have infiltrated the Party along with the scandals. Dele-gate, A Mortgage Bill for the Chairmans Brother, and the “Moral Infidelity” that has caused the Divorce of Sentor Randy Richardville from his wife of some 30 years just to mention a few!

Alabama Governor on how they snagged Airbus: We’re a right to work state!

Michigan’s job market sure could have used the 1,000 job’s that will be provided to Alabama’s citizens! “We know in aerospace, when we create one job, there are about four related jobs so we could bring as many as 5,000,” Airbus CEO Fabrice Bregier said.

Other big manufacturers have found homes in right-to-work state’s in the South. Boeing has a plant in North Charleston, S.C., and Alabama is home to plants owned by Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai and Toyota. Many of these companies looked to Michigan as a top choice to build their plants but our elected officials in Lansing could not provide guarantees against “union” interferance!

Republican Governor Rick Scott: Florida Won’t Implement Medicaid Expansion of Obamacare

What’s wrong with this picture? We have a Republican governor saying no to Obama Heath Care Exchange and Michigan’s governor Rick Snyder pushing for it! We have a Republican governor praising right-to-work in Alabama for bringing much needed jobs there from Airbus announcing they will build an aircraft manufacturing assembly plant because it’s a right-to-work state. Michigan’s Rick Snyder thinks right-to-work is to divisive. The citizens of Michigan do not want a “New Government Bridge” but Snyder finds a backdoor against the wishes of the legislature who voted it down. The top agenda item of the failed Democrat Granholm administration was a “New Government Bridge”! I say Michigan desperately needs a True Conservative Republican Governor.

Opinion by R Al Bain

While on vacation last week I made some interesting observations. I stayed at one of Michigan’s state parks and to my dismay I found out that the online reservation system used for reserving a campsite has been contracted out to a firm in Ohio! With jobs being in high demand here in Michigan Is this something in the way of “best practices” for the citizens of Michigan who are unemployed? I think not.

Another observation I made was while in a party store purchasing ice for my cooler I observed a very young couple with a child purchasing candy for the child and beer, liquor, and cigarettes. While this may seen insignificant to the average citizen the bottom line is that you the citizen of Michigan paid for it! They used a bridge card! Is this something in the way of “best practices” for the citizens of Michigan whose tax dollars are supposed to help the indigent? Again I think not!

Folks the only answer to these problems perpetrated by those who we elect to serve us and our best interest is to vote them out of office and or re-call them! Again it’s high time we elect those that will look out for the best interest of the citizens of Michigan and not the Party, Special Interest Groups, or their own Political Careers.

NOTE: The Bain Report will be going through some changes in the near future in that the author is contemplating going by-weekly or monthly.

Lessons from Wisconsin

Many observers said it was the biggest loss government unions have ever experienced. “It’s more than a big deal, it’s a huge deal,” said Vincent Vernuccio, Labor Policy Counsel at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. “It will embolden governors and legislators across the country. They’ll know that they can stand up for taxpayers against special interests. “They’ll understand that they might have to endure some pain, but they’ll know they can win in the end and go down in history as people who helped save their states.”

While the state of Wisconsin is the big winner Michigan will still be a big loser as long as we have the current leadership in the legislature in place. You see the union’s best friend in Lansing Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville  has made it publicly clear that Michigan will continue the union’s best practices with his statement in regard to the Walker re-call victory!

“Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville said he doesn’t look to Wisconsin as a model for Michigan and doesn’t really care what happened there. He went on to say “The Wisconsin people and Legislature does things their way, and we do ours our way.” All I can say about that statement is how’s that way been working out for Michigan and it’s citizens? With that statement Michigan will continue down the same broken path!

Dave Agema Endorses Kerry Bentivolio for Congress

True Conservatives of the Michigan Republican Party were rewarded for electing Dave Agema as the new State Committeeman with his endorsement of Kerry Bentivolio a Conservative Candidate for Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. It’s high time we had a Republican who stands for the principles, traditions, and values that the Republican Party was founded upon!

While the “Republican Party Establishment Bosses” scrambled to find a write-in candidate (former State Senator Nancy Cassis) who would be a yes man or in this case a yes woman for the Party to run against Mr. Bentivolio – Agema stood up for the conservatives. This proves we picked the right man for the job as to look out for the best interest of the citizens of Michigan and the constitution and not the Party!

Supreme Court Blesses ObamaCare

To paraphrase former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money. Now that Obamacare and its tax, subsidizing, and guarantee rules have been upheld by the Supreme Court, the only real question that remains is: When will that money run out?

Given that so many people so easily stand to qualify for such large subsidies simply by keeping their incomes below the caps, Obamacare is virtually guaranteed to cost significantly more than initially projected.

With the law being blessed by the Supreme Court rather than “save, invest, and figure out how to cover your costs,” the incentive has become “pay off your debts, keep your other costs and your income low, and your neighbor will cover your health insurance for you.”

The Selling of America

Turns out, while Americans are still reeling from the aftershocks of our housing bust, a whole lot of people from around the globe are eager to take advantage of the “bust-ortunity” in cheap American homes. One real estate agent in Chicago, for example, observed that 20% of the deals he’s closed so far this year involved buyers from Canada, Australia, and elsewhere.

It’s only natural that this news would scare some people. It raises echoes of the “Rising Sun” period of Japanese economic dominance back in the 1980s, when Japanese firms flooded the American market with bags of cash, buying up everything from Columbia Studios to the Pebble Beach golf course to Rockefeller Center itself.

On one hand, this kind of buying frenzy is likely to rub a few people the wrong way. “The foreigners are coming,” they’ll declaim, with all the jingoistic outrage this implies. It probably doesn’t help that a lot of Americans are out of work these days, can’t get a mortgage, or are underwater on their current homes. So even if they agree that there are good deals in housing to be had, they can’t participate.

5 Million Farmers Sue Monsanto for $7.7 Billion

Launching a lawsuit against the very company that is responsible for a farmer suicide every 30 minutes, 5 million farmers are now suing Monsanto for as much as 6.2 billion euros (around 7.7 billion US dollars). The reason? As with many other cases, such as the ones that led certain farming regions to be known as the ‘suicide belt’, Monsanto has been reportedly taxing the farmers to financial shambles with ridiculous royalty charges. The farmers state that Monsanto has been unfairly gathering exorbitant profits each year on a global scale from “renewal” seed harvests, which are crops planted using seed from the previous year’s harvest.
